The authoritative fashion magazine ELLE published one ofthemodels from Kenzo's fashion showon itscover.
First, Kenzo opened aboutique called Jungle Jap intheVivienne Gallery.
The interior of which was designed byhim and made inJapanese andjungle style.
In the '80s
In the 80s, the designer also launched men's andchildren's clothing lines, and1991 wasmarked bythe release ofthe first perfume andKenzo bedding.
In 1987, italso began producing products forinterior decoration. Kenzo isnowaninternational premium brand owned byLVMH, which bought itin1993.
Kenzo Takada was abig fan ofethnics. Inhis collections, herepeatedly quoted Japanese kimonos, Indian saris andmuch more. But aseparate place inhis heart wasoccupied bythe Russian costume. He returned toitrepeatedly during hislife. Thus, hisfall — winter collection of 1987 included animage ofawhite fur hat, apuffy skirt and ashort fitted jacket, clearly inspired bythetraditional Russian outer garment — thedussegraya.
In the '90s
Kenzo Takada sold his brandto LVMH Corporationwhile continuing to work as lead designer.
And then Takada officially announced his departure from Kenzo.

Although Kenzo left the fashion industry and devoted himself entirely to creating fragrances and interior design, he has retained his authority and influence.
Humberto Leon and Carol Lim arethe creative directors andchief designers of the brand. They cite their main goal asshaking upthe “wild” fashion world.

Since the sale, thebrand has continued toevolve andtransformation. New managers try toadhere tothe original philosophy ofthe brand, bringing new notes tothe unique design of“Kenzo”.
In 2017 - 2019
By 2017, theproduction ofaccessories andfootwear accounted fornearly 30% ofKenzo's total revenue.
Humberto Leon andCarol Lim have left Kenzo, explaining their departure bysaying they want tofocus solely on their label Opening Ceremony. Felipe Oliveira Baptista took over asKenzo's artistic director.
The Kenzo brand initiated atriumphant return of sweatshirts — their version featured prints inspired byKenzo Takada's work ofthe 80s, andin 2016 acollaboration withH&M was released. Kenzo himself dreamedof his brand becoming “mass”.
The American designers appointed as creative directors have refreshed the brand, bringing youthfulness, boldness and a bit of fun (such as the recognizable eye print or the tiger's head with its mouth open).
